"Fifty–Fifty" is an episode of the science fiction television series The 4400.

Synopsis

Diana pulls Maia out of the 4400 Center school. Collier's Promicin distribution begins. Isabelle and Haspel Corporation part ways. Shawn and Isabelle are seriously injured. Alana is abducted again.

Plot

Jordan Collier begins distribution of the stolen promicin. Dennis Ryland tells NTAC that of the 20 soldiers who volunteered for promicin injections, 50 percent of them died; the other 50 percent gained 4400-like abilities.

NTAC captures Shawn, and Isabelle seriously injures him during his interrogation. Ryland's enhanced soldiers die in a suicide bombing carried out by Boyd Gelder, causing Isabelle to leave Haspel Corporation and attack the 4400 Center. She evidently loses her abilities at the hands of Richard, who used the syringe given to Tom Baldwin by "the future," as the only hope of killing Isabelle. Tom shoots her in the shoulder, only slightly wounding her.

Diana prepares to take a six-month sabbatical to Spain with Ben and Maia. Alana is abducted again. Both Diana's sister April and Tom's son Kyle are seen contemplating promicin injections.

Notes

  • This is the only 4400 episode in which a character appears to break the fourth wall. A homeless man played by Tom McBeath turns to the camera and asks the viewer, "How about you? Fifty-fifty. You want the shot?"
