Fidelio Films is a New York-based independent film production company founded by filmmakers David Figueroa, Mark Raso, Mauro Mueller and Mauricio Leiva Cock in 2010. The company has produced a number of acclaimed short films, winning twice in a row in the Student Academy Awards with Under in 2012[1] and A World for Raúl in 2013.[2][3] The first feature film Copenhagen, featuring Gethin Anthony, Bodil Awards winner Frederikke Dahl Hansen, Sebastian Armesto, Mille Dinesen, Baard Owe, and Tamzin Merchant[4] will be released 2014.

Company History

Fidelio Films was founded in 2010 by filmmakers David Figueroa, Mark Raso, Mauro Mueller and Mauricio Leiva Cock. All four of them met while studying at the MFA program in directing and screenwriting at Columbia University. The company started out as a branding company but soon the creative collective formed a production company. In 2013, the four shot the first feature film Copenhagen in Denmark.[5]

Awards and Recognition

Fidelio films have received multiple awards and nominations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,[6] CINE,[7] and the Directors Guild of America.[8][9]

Mark Raso’s thesis film at Columbia University Under won the gold medal at the Student Academy Awards 2012 in the narrative category[10] and many prizes more such as a CINE Golden Eagle and at Las Vegas International Film Festival.[11]

Mauro Mueller’s thesis film at Columbia University A World for Raúl (orig. Un mundo para Raúl') won in the narrative category in the Student Academy Awards 2013.[12][13] and many more prizes such as a CINE Golden Eagle Award and Special Jury Award and the Jury Award at Aspen Shortsfest.[14][15]

Upcoming projects

After producing Copenhagen (2014), Fidelio Films is in development on their next feature film with Mauro Mueller directing.[16]

Furthermore, the Colombian Film Commission (Proimagenes Colombia) Grant winning project, los_kaotikos, written and directed by Mauricio Leiva Cock will shoot early 2014, in co-production with Mediafisch, DRAMAX and Amigos del Cine.[17]
