Fernanda Alves (born c. 1975) is a Portuguese beauty pageant contestant. Alves became the first delegate from her country to win any major beauty pageant title. She won Miss International in 1996 in Kanazawa, Japan.[1]

Pageant career

Fernanda participated in several pageants, always achieving one of the top three positions. Some of her titles include Miss Teenage (South Africa, 1993), Miss Portugal/South Africa (March 1996) and Miss Portugal 2nd runner-up/princess (May 1996).

Personal life

She went on to marry self-made millionaire Matthias Schmelz in 1999 in Costa Rica. They settled in Estoril, Portugal. They also have two children (Electra and Fernando). Fernanda is now filling for divorce from Matthias Schmelz.[citation needed]
