Princess Fatma Kadriye Açba-Ançabadze (17 April 1876 – 5 November 1924) was the eleventh wife of 34th Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II and the mother of Hatice Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. After her marriage to Abdul Hamid II, she became Fatma Pesend Hanım (Turkish for "Lady Fatma Pesend").

Biography

She was born in 17 April 1876 in Istanbul. She was the daughter of Prince Sami Paşa and Tatar Princess Fatıma Mamleeva. She was well-educated and was known as a good painter. She met Abdul Hamid II while they were guests at Yıldız Palace. She was married to Abdul Hamid II on 20 July 1896 at Yıldız Palace. She had only one daughter named Hadice Sultan, who was born a year after the wedding, but the girl died eight months after birth. After the death of Hatice Sultan, Abdul Hamid II built a children's pediatric hospital. Fatma Pesend was close to Abdul Hamid and accompanied him into exile at Salonica for a time. She died in her villa at Vaniköy, Istanbul on 5 November 1924, age approximately 48. She is buried in the Karacaahmet Cemetery at Üsküdar, Istanbul.
