Father and Daughter is a Paul Simon song, originally released as a single. It is a notable addition to the Simon anthology mainly because the song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song.[1] It was written for the animated family film The Wild Thornberrys Movie and released in 2002. The song also appeared on the movie soundtrack album, and a different mix of the same performance was used for Simon's 2006 release, Surprise, and the 2007 best-of compilation, The Essential Paul Simon.

The song is about a father's love for his daughter, told from his point of view. In the song, he talks about how he has always been there for her over the years and that no matter what life has in store, there'll never be a father that loves their daughter more than he.
