Faridpur Sadar (Bengali: ফরিদপুর সদর) is an Upazila (sub-district) of Faridpur District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It contains Faridpur Town near the banks of the Padma River.

Geography

Faridpur Sadar is located at 23°35′45″N 89°49′50″E / 23.5958°N 89.8306°E / 23.5958; 89.8306. It has 60454 units of house hold and total area 407.02 km².

Demographics

As of 1991 the Bangladesh census, listed Faridpur Sadar with a population of 335386. Males constitute 51.91% of the population, and females 48.09%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 176469. Faridpur Sadar has an average literacy rate of 34.2% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.[1]
