Faqirwali (Urdu: فقِيروالى), is a town of Bahawalnagar District in the Punjab province of eastern Pakistan. The nearest sub-district to the north is Haroonabad and to the south is Fort Abbas. It is a small town and its population is about 30,000.

Economy

The main occupation of people in Faqirwali ang nearby surrounding areas is agriculture, trading and small industry. The main business hub is the Grain Market (locally known as 'Ghalla Mandi' or " غلّہ منڈی"). Main crop in winter is Cotton which also makes Faqirwali a host to many cotton-ginning factories and oiling mills, some of which are 'Mian Cottton Industries and Oil Mills', 'Pak-Ghazi Cotton Industries', 'Kamboh Cotton Industries', and so on.

Education

Although there are about 15 schools and colleges in this city but the literacy rate is still relatively low, the main contributing factors are uninteractable old-styled schooling system, unconcerned parenting, and child labour. People prefer other cities for education on Faqirwali. Many students go to nearby cities like Haroonabad and Bahawalnager for studies, while some go even further, like Bahawalpur and Lahore.

Crime Rate

Faqirwali is a rather peaceful town with low crime rate. This is mainly because the town is small and most people know each other and therefore practice neighbourhood watch. There is one police station in the city which is located on eastern end. There's also a Highway Patrol Police, stationed about 5km south of the town.

Health

There is one Government operated, and a few privately operated hospitals in the city. Heath awareness level is mediocre as people do not consult doctors for their problem and rather practice self-medication or consult pharmacists at the most. Growth rate of faqirwali is very high due to limited number of recreational activities.

Climate

The average climate of Faqirwali is hot and humid. The temperature extremes occur during the months of May, June, and July, when the temperature reaches up to 49-53°C. In August, the monsoon seasons starts, with heavy rainfall throughout the area. December and January are the coldest months, when temperatures can drop up to -1 °C.
The annual average rainfall is 160 mm.

Language

Punjabi is the main language of the region. Majhi and Malwi dialects of Punjabi are commonly spoken by the locals.[citation needed]
