Fajã do Belo

First known in the 17th century, this cliff known as Fajã do Belo is a cliff located around the parish of Ribeira Seca. It is named after Diogo Nunes Belo. It is situated between the fajã dos Cubres and fajã dos Tijolos.

Parts of the cliff was ruined during the 1980 earthquake. This occasion resided in around 22 people and moved to its nearby settlements. It had 131 people in 1891. Lands surrounding the cliff are actually old. Fishes surround the coast especially cod and other types. It has a nice nature with a large mineral valor. Its land properties consists of winery and sweet potatoes around the rocks. Much of the area has been abandoned almost 30 years after the 1980 earthquake.
