From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fabien Fryns is a Belgian art dealer and collector specializing in Chinese art. He lives in Beijing and London.

Life and career

Fryns grew up in Belgium and Switzerland where he first started collecting artwork in high school.[1] He has been active in the art world since 1986, primarily as a collector and art advisor. In 2000 Fryns turned to contemporary Chinese art, which led to his moving to Beijing in 2004 and subsequently opening F2 Gallery.[2][3]

Fryns has worked with many established Chinese artists, including Zeng Fanzhi. He has also introduced many Western collectors to Chinese art,[4] such as art collector Jose Mugrabi to Zeng Fanzhi.[5]

Galleries

Fryns has ran several galleries. Most prominent among them being F2 Gallery, opened 2004 in Caochangdi, and Fabien Fryns Fine Art, opened 2010 in Los Angeles. As of 2013 Fryns closed both physical galleries to focus on his art business, Fabien Fryns Fine Art, in London.[6] However, he continues to maintain a presence in Beijing, a decision meant to continue his interest in promoting a cross-cultural arts exchange between China and the West.[7]

Artists affiliated

Some of the artists Fryns has shown include Zeng Fanzhi, Wu Junyong, Sheng Qi. He also is associated with upcoming artist Zheng Lu.[8]
