Fülane Sultan or Devletlu İsmetlu Fülane Valide Sultan Aliyyetü'ş-Şân Hazretleri (Daulatlu Ismatlu Fülane Validā Sultâna 'Aliyāt ûsh-Shân Hazrātlāri) (c.1576– 1623) (Ottoman Turkish: فولاني سلطان) was a consort to Ottoman sultan Mehmet III. She was the adoptive mother of Mustafa I and was Valide Sultan during the reigns of Mustafa I.
Biography
She was born in 1576. She was from Abkhazian descent. Her real name is unknown. "Fulani" is used as a compliment for women. She was one of the hasekis (favourite concubines) of Ottoman Sultan Mehmed III. She was the adoptive mother of Ottoman Sultan Mustafa I. Her adoptive son Mustafa I ascended the throne when his grandmother Safiye Sultan was still alive. She was the Valide Sultan during the reigns of Mustafa I. During the second reign of her son Mustafa I, she passed away. She died in Istanbul in 1623.
