Félix Lázaro Martínez (born March 2, 1936) is the current bishop for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ponce. Martinez was ordained Coadjutor Bishop of Ponce on April 25, 2002 by Pope John Paul II and elevated to Bishop on June 11, 2003.[1]

Early life

Lázaro Martínez was born in Logroño, Spain, on 2 March 1936. In the summer of 1970 he was called to Puerto Rico to teach of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. Pope John Paul II ordained him as a Diocese Bishop on 25 Abril 2003.[2]

Honors

On 12 December 2013, Lázaro Martínez was honored with a ceremony and added to the list of illustrious Ponce citizens at the Park of the Illustrious Ponce Citizens in Ponce's Tricentennial Park.[3]
