Extant is an upcoming American science fiction drama television series that will air on CBS. It revolves around a female astronaut (Halle Berry[1]) who returns home to her family after a year in outer space. On August 7, 2013, CBS announced that it had placed a 13-episode straight-to-series order, bypassing the pilot stage.[4] Steven Spielberg will serve as an executive producer.[3][5] The series is scheduled to premiere on July 2, 2014.[6]
