Exopack Advanced Coatings (EAC) is a division of Exopack Holding Corp, owned by Sun Capital Partners, a private investment firm. EAC has 3 facilities located in North Carolina, North Wales, UK and Guangzhou, China. EAC specializes in the development, manufacture and distribution of precision-coated papers, films and specialty substrates for imaging, electronics, medical and optical technologies. They also offer unique[citation needed] specialty films and coating services.

History

The Matthews facility can be traced back to its establishment in 1963 as Riegel Paper, and the North Wales to 1968 as Brittains Riegel. There were various changes on the name due to merger and acquisition during the years.

In 2002, Sun Capital Partners acquired the Image Product Division from Rexam PLC, and named it "InteliCoat". The Matthews and North Wales facilities were the EEF (electronics and engineered film) division of InteliCoat. On August 6, 2007, the EEF division separated from InteliCoat to form Exopack Advanced Coatings, and became a division of Exopack LLC, which is also an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners.

In 2011, EAC chose Guangzhou, China to open its distribution and converting facility, which enhance service and support for its distributors and manufacturing customers in the thriving region.

In 2013 it was announced that Exopack Holdings would merge with four other leading companies, including Britton Group, PACCOR, Kobusch, and Paragon Print & Packaging, to form a new company called COVERIS™. [1]
