A 509 Harbourfront streetcar departs Exhibition Loop

Exhibition Loop is the terminus for the 511 Bathurst and 509 Harbourfront streetcar routes and serves:

History

The loop has changed locations over the years, but it has always been located near what is now the Exhibition GO Station. The first loop began operations in 1916 and was located at the current loop location. In 1923 the loop was relocated to the southeast near the Princes' Gate. With the construction of the National Trade Centre it was re-located back to the original location in 1996.

Turnstiles are located in the centre of the loop for passengers entering the loop and another set located to the west for patrons exiting. The platform is at grade with the tracks and is separated from the Canadian National Exhibition. During the Canadian National Exhibition and other large events at Exhibition Place the loop is a fare paid area with a collector on duty. All other times, patrons pay their fare on the streetcar.

Transit City proposal

The Transit City proposal calls for a new LRT line known as the Waterfront West LRT line, an extension of the existing 509 Harbourfront LRT line to Long Branch GO Station.
