Jeff Abel, better known by his stage name Excision, is a dubstep producer and DJ from Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.

Excision frequently works with fellow Canadian dubstep producers Datsik and Downlink. Along with Downlink, he is the founder of Rottun Recordings. Active since 2004, his first release was in 2007. He had released an annual "Shambhala" mix album in the third quarter of each year.[1] He also is known for his watts of bass tours.[2]

Abel recently founded another label "Destroid Records", upon it's debut release a full length digital album was released with the majority of tracks by Excision himself and collaborations with other artists such as Downlink, Space Laces, Far Too Loud, Bassnectar and Ajapai. Another single was released in December 2013 by Excision & Space Laces entitled "Get Stupid". There are more releases scheduled to be released on Destroid Records.

Career

When Excision's 2007 release, "No Escape" (on his own label Rottun Recordings), sold out and was re-pressed, a demand for the aggressive side of dubstep became clear. Excision was later asked by Pendulum to remix their 2009 single “Showdown.”

During the year 2011, Excision toured the US with Downlink and Legacy on the "Subsonic Tour".

He released his debut studio album X Rated on 12 September 2011 through the Canadian Mau5trap Recordings label. A remix album was released a year later. Excision explores various music styles beyond his own throughout the album and collaborates with various artists, such as Datsik, Downlink, SKisM, Messinian, Savvy and Mr. Hudson.

In early 2012, Excision started the North American "X Tour" with Liquid Stranger and Lucky Date.[3]

In 2012, he started an electronic supergroup, Destroid, with Downlink and Pendulum's former drummer KJ Sawka.

Starting January 2013 until April, Excision embarked on a new tour in North America and Canada unveiling his new "Executioner" video stage, along with the 100,000 watt bass system from PK Sound.[4] Opening acts include Vaski and Paper Diamond.

Starting in January 2014, Excision begins a new tour covering North America and Canada with support from Dirtyphonics and Ill Gates. This new tour brings once again his "Executioner" video and light production. This time around, he brings a new 150,000 watt bass system from PK Sound.[5]
