Evesham High School (formerly known as Evesham County Secondary School), also known as EHS, is a dual Specialist Sports College and Maths and Computing College located in Evesham, Worcestershire, England. It is a 13-18 year old Mixed Comprehensive with, at the last census in 2001, around 880 students, 140 of whom are in the Sixth Form.
Academic
Lessons are taught in dedicated subject departments. Students in Year 9 take a common curriculum consisting of English, Mathematics, Science, French, Art, Design, History, Geography, Philosophy and Ethics, Music, Drama, Physical Education, Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHEE). Spanish as a second language is also begun at this stage. Each subject area groups students in the way it deems most appropriate. Children who require extra help are withdrawn for some lessons. In Years 10/11 students follow two year courses in English, Mathematics, Balanced Science, PSME, PE, half courses in Information Technology and optional subjects chosen from a wide range on offer, including pre-vocational and GNVQ Part 1 Courses. The school also offers 21 A-Level courses plus GNVQ and AVCE Business, Leisure & Tourism, Intermediate and Advanced Level. It also offers a hair and beauty course and an engineering course, where you can go to the college one or two days a week, these subjects are diplomas. Evesham High School are also in federation with Simon De Montfort Middle School.
Pastoral and extra curricular
Pastoral and social organisation is by mixed ability tutor groups within Year Groups; Heads of Year have substantial responsibility for Years 9, 10, 11 and 12/13 respectively. In addition to their subject teaching commitments all form tutors teach their own form for one period per week as part of a planned programme of personal and social education, careers etc.
