Europa Cantat

The European Choral Association - Europa Cantat is a European choral organisation founded in 1963. It is the biggest European choral organisation with members in 40 European countries and 50 countries worldwide. It is a network of choir organisations, choirs and individual conductors, singers and choir managers all over Europe and it directly represents more than 1 million of them all over Europe and indirectly reaches 20 million.

Aims

Europa Cantat aims at

  • improving the quality of vocal music all over Europe
  • supporting cultural diversity and promoting cultural exchange within Europe
  • encouraging the mobility of conductors, composers and singers
  • encouraging the creation of innovative contemporary vocal music
  • making its activities accessible to young people from all European countries including those who are geographically, economically, socially or otherwise disadvantaged
  • on the basis of respect for differing cultures and a strong belief in the social and economic importance of vocal music
  • with a special focus on young people under 27

Mission

European Choral Association - Europa Cantat exists to encourage and increase greater understanding and cooperation between Europeans by bringing them together in the common activity of singing, promoting the exchange and development of cultural heritage and education.
