Ethiopia–Malaysia relations are foreign relations between Ethiopia and Malaysia. Ethiopia has a consulate-general in Kuala Lumpur,[1] while Malaysia doesn't have any embassy in Ethiopia. The relations are much more focused in economic cooperation.

History

Ethiopian general-consulate in Kuala Lumpur has been established since 2003, the main purpose of the consulate is to enhancing trade and economic activities between the two countries and to closer people to people contact.[1]

Economic relations

Malaysia is one of the major trade partner for Ethiopia.[2] In 2009, a Malaysian company has set up a mushroom farming establishment with an investment of Br285 million.[3] The area cover a 60 hectare mushroom farm around lake Shala where it became the main production facility.[3] While in 2013, a Malaysian edible oil producer has set to build a larger food oil refinery in Ethiopia.[4] Beside that, both countries also working on air transport and Malaysia Airlines has establish a code-sharing with Ethiopian Airlines.[5][6]
