Erik Morán Arribas (born 25 May 1991) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, as a central midfielder.

Club career

Born in Portugalete, Biscay, Morán joined Athletic Bilbao's youth system in 2004, aged 13. On 28 November 2012 he made his debut with the first team, starting in a 2–0 away win against Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona F.C. for the season's UEFA Europa League;[1] on 14 April of the following year he played his first game in La Liga, coming on as an 80th-minute substitute for Iker Muniain in a 0–3 home loss to Real Madrid.[2]

In August 2013 Morán was definitely promoted to Athletic's first team, signing a contract extension until 2016[3] and being awarded the number 5 jersey.[4]
