Eric W. Brown

Eric W. Brown (born August 28, 1984 in Silver Spring, MD) is an American musician, artist, songwriter, vocalist, drummer and producer. Currently residing in Denver, CO, he has lived and worked in Nashville, TN (2003–2010) and his hometown of Silver Spring, MD. He is currently active in a number of bands, some of his own creation.

Biography

Eric began playing drums in 1996 and studied privately for 7 years with noted DC-area teacher Walter Salb (whose many students include Allison Miller and Jean-Paul Gaster of Clutch).

Two years after graduating from Sherwood High School (class of 2002),^[1] he moved to Nashville as a then-member of power punk/rock trio The Umbilical Chords, and was immediately inducted as a member of Destroy Destroy Destroy. He recorded on their Black Market Activities debut "Devour the Power," and participated in several US tours. During their downtime in 2006, he joined forces with virtuoso guitarist Malcolm Lee Pugh (A Loathing Requiem, Diskreet, Enfold Darkness) in the melodic death metal quartet-turned-quintet Inferi, debuting live at Wall Street in Murfreesboro, TN alongside headliners Destroy Destroy Destroy.

In 2007, Eric began to write and produce his own music and shortly thereafter released an EP^[2] under the pseudonym "Rainbowdragoneyes," the name with which his chiptune compositions are associated.

Eric parted ways with Destroy Destroy Destroy in 2008.^[3] He later joined up with Stuck Lucky originally as a fill-in,^[4] but soon become integrated as a full-time member, recording on the album Possom Soul,^[5] the EP Dry Drowning^[6] and touring extensively.

2009 saw the downfall of the first iteration of Inferi,^[7] the release of Magic Hammer's debut album "Most Extreme Ultimate Thunder",^[8] a slot at the International Pop Overthrow festival in Chicago, IL^[9] drumming for power-pop quartet Wild Bores, a west coast tour with Denver natives Vale of Pnath,^[10] 2 shows with Protomen under codename "The Dragon",^[11] and a stream of session work at The Bomb Shelter recording studio in Nashville as a drummer and also a background vocalist. Later on in the year he played with post-punk band Nite Nite, fulfilling their local and touring schedules.

In 2010, Eric was gaining exposure with interviews from blog Denpa no Sekai^[12] and Revision3's ByteJacker,^[13] an endorsement by The Brooklyn Salsa Company,^[14] and features in weekly publication the Nashville Scene^[15][16] including a write-up on the event he organized for Magic Hammer's CD release, which coincided with the Nashville tour stop for chiptune tour The 8bit Alliance. Several other events followed^{[17][18][19][20][21]} throughout the year which featured both Magic Hammer and Rainbowdragoneyes as headliners.

At The End on June 9, 2010, Eric performed as Rainbowdragoneyes, Magic Hammer, and drummer of Destroy Destroy Destroy, rounding off a night of three consecutive performances.^[22]

At the close of 2010, Eric relocated to Denver and after a few months into 2011 began playing drums for Vimana (formerly Collapse^[23]) with Zac Joe (formerly of Cephalic Carnage) in addition to being recruited as the full-time drummer for Vale of Pnath,^[24] Swashbuckle and Roniit.^[25]

In 2011, he received a profile page on Sick Drummer Magazine, acknowledging him as one of the world's premier extreme metal drummers.
