The Equisetales is an order of pteridophytes with only one living genus Equisetum (horsetails), of the family Equisetaceae. The fossil record includes additional extinct species in the Equisetaceae and the extinct families Calamitaceae, Archaeocalamitaceae and Phyllothecaceae. [1][2]
