Epidermophyton is a genus of fungus causing superficial and cutaneous mycoses, including E. floccosum, a cause of tinea corporis (ringworm), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), and onychomycosis or tinea unguium, a fungal infection of the nail bed.
