Envy of Angels is an album released in 1996 by New Zealand band, The Mutton Birds. The title is taken from "The Wife Speaks", a poem by New Zealand poet Mary Stanley.[2]
The recording sessions took place during the summer of 1996 at Rockfield studios near Monmouth, Wales. Whilst the album was being mixed by Hugh Jones in one studio, B sides and rare tracks were mixed and some new ones recorded in the other studio with Rockfield engineer/producer Paul Read. Some of these are available on the rarities collection Too Hard Basket.
