entertainment.ie is a Irish website based in Dublin City Centre. The website provides the latest news and reviews of the latest programs and films for TV and Cinema. It provides information on upcoming comedy, festivals and theatre shows and gigs in Ireland. It also provides the latest celebrity news and gossip from around the world.[1]
The site was developed in 1997 by Fusio (web development), and won the 2005 Golden Spider media award for Irish entertainment website of the year.[2] It also won the prize for Best Entertainment Site at the Digital Media Awards Grand Prix in 2006 and won Best Entertainment website at the Irish Web Awards in 2008.[3][4]
The Irish Times acquired a 30% stake in the company in May, 2007.[5]
Awards Entertainment.ie won the 2005 Golden Spider media award for Irish Entertainment website of the year. It also won the prize for Best Entertainment Site at the Digital Media Awards Grand Prix in 2006 and won Best Entertainment website at the Irish Web Awards in 2008.[6]
Tickets Entertainment.ie provide a ticket selling section on there website where they have tickets for various films, gigs and comedians around Ireland.[7]
Mobile [8] Entertainment.ie have created many free apps for IOS and Android devices. They currently have seven apps which are available to download, these include:
Celebrity showbiz gossip which gives free access to celebrity stories, images and videos. This is available for IOS devices [9]
Tv Guide Ireland app which is an app with a 7 day TV listing with full programme details and description. It currently has 95 channels with many interactive features such as 'Now and Next' and 'Genre Search'. It is available for IOS device.[10]
Cinema Guide Ireland is available on both IOS and Android devices. It is a free app which shows cinema listings, film reviews, film trailers, film news and it also every Cinema screen in Ireland listed [11]
Entertainment.ie is available for both IOS and Android devices. This app gives listings and details for over 7000 venues around the country.[12]
Restaurant Guide Ireland is the only independent restaurant app on the Irish Market. This App lets you search by Star rating, location price or cuisine. This app is currently only available for IOS devices.[13]
Eric's Cinema Guide UK is an app especially designed for cinema listing in the UK. This is available for IOS devices.[14]
Summer Festivals App, this app brings details of the wide range of festivals which are on during the summer months in Ireland. This app is available for IOS devices.[15]
In January 2014, Entertainment.ie acquired Beaut.ie.[16] Beaut.ie are an Irish beauty blog for women. They had previously decided to cease business after 8 years of beauty blogging.[17]
“Entertainment.ie want to marry Beaut.ie's “buzzy” treatment of cosmetics and pop culture to Entertainment.ie's mix of film television music and events”. [18]
