Energy in Syria

Energy in Syria describes energy and electricity production, consumption and import in Syria. Energy policy of Syria describes the politics of Syria related to energy. The 2011 Syrian uprising is an ongoing internal conflict in Syria.

Primary energy use in 2009 in Syria was 262 TWh and 12 TWh per million persons.[1]

Oil

According to BBC oil accounts for ca. 25% of Syria's income, estimated as $3.2bn for 2010. EU members account for ca. 95% of oil exports. Production was 400,000 barrels per day (64,000 m3/d) in 2009 and exports about 150,000 barrels per day (24,000 m3/d), mainlyGermany, Italy and France. According to BBC oil reserves were 2.5bn barrels in 2010.[3]

Business

The Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC) is a state-owned oil company established in 1974.
