Endurance International Group, Inc. (EIG), formerly BizLand,[1] is one of the world's largest website hosting companies.[2] The company was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts,[1] managing over 2.9 million customers and 10 million domains.[3] It achieved its size by acquiring a large number of smaller hosts, which it continues to operate under the original names.[4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9][10] In 2011, Endurance was bought from Accel-KKR by Warburg Pincus and GS Capital Partners, for around $975 million,.[11][12]

August 2nd & December 31st Blackout
During the morning of August 2, 2013 and afternoon of December 31st, 2013, Endurance International Group’s data center in Provo, Utah, experienced unexpected issues that affected customers of Bluehost,[32] HostGator,[33] HostMonster and JustHost.[34][35][36][37] Company websites and some phone services were affected as well.[38] The company was unable to respond to most phone calls because of the network outage at Bluehost's datacenter.[39] The outage on August 2nd took down many of the dedicated servers owned by HostGator customers. Thousands of customers reported being without service for over 10 hours that day.
