Enderley is a suburb of Hamilton, New Zealand. It became a part of Hamilton in the 5th boundary extension in 1949. It is the highest ranking suburb for socio-economic deprivation in eastern Hamilton.[1]
Poets Corner
Poets Corner, a neighbourhood in Enderley, is known for its high crime rate. New Zealand Post ceased deliveries to residential addresses in Enderley for a short time after a shoot out between members of the Mongrel Mob and Black Power in 2007. Crime rates and gang membership have decreased in the last few years.[2][3]
Education
Southwell School is an independent co-educational Anglican preparatory school (Year 1-8). The school was founded in 1911. It has a decile rating of 10 and a roll of 652 [4]
Demographics
According to the 2006 census, Enderley has a population of 5226 (Enderley and Insoll statistical zones).[5] The Index of Socioeconomic Deprivation, ranked 1-10 from lowest to most deprived areas, lists Enderley and Insoll at 10/10 (highest level of deprivation).[6]
