Encina is an unincorporated community in Baker County, Oregon, United States.[1] Encina is 3 miles west of Durkee, 5 miles west of Huntington, and 8 miles east of La Grande. Encina is situated at the mainline of the Union Pacific Railroad's Huntington Subdivision between La Grande and Huntington, Oregon. Encina is the summit of the Huntington Subdivision mainline. There is also a railroad horseshoe curve known as Oxman Curve near the former town of Oxman.[citation needed] The tracks that go through Encina were originally owned by the Oregon Railway & Navigation Company that built the railroad from 1882 to 1884.[citation needed] A post office existed here but was closed and torn down at some point.[citation needed]
