Empelinae Newton and Thayer 1992 is a subfamily of Staphylinidae (Coleoptera).
Anatomy
- Small, under 2mm.
- Antennae 11 segmented with loose 3-segmented club.
- Elytra nearly cover entire abdomen.
- 5-5-5 tarsi.

Habitat: forest leaf litter, fungi, and moss at stream edge.
