Emory Howard Hail[1] (December 13, 1969 – January 28, 2006) was a professional wrestler with World Championship Wrestling in 1998, and then going to the X Wrestling Federation. He was brought into WCW by Jimmy Hart to be the next "big thing," in line for a main event. His WCW matches were highlighted by flashing the "Hail" warning, as his "birth" name was Emory Hail. He was known in WCW for his jumping piledrivers called "Hail's Bell."
His masked persona, "The Machine," was taken directly from the Nicolas Cage movie 8MM, in which the character was a masked sadist in snuff films. Jeremy Borash acknowledged the inspiration for the character on WCW Live. He only wrestled one match as The Machine against Diamond Dallas Page.
