Emiliano Rudolf Giambelli (born November 14, 1989, in Vimercate, Italy), best known as Emis Killa, is an Italian rapper.[1] He is regarded as one of the most talented youngsters from the Milan Hip hop scene.[2]

Biography

In 2007, at just 18 years old, he was the winner of an Italian freestyle competition called TecnichePerfette[3]

Emis Killa cooperated with the independent company Blocco Recordz with which he published a mixtape, “Keta Music” (2009) with original songs and beats of American productions and “Champagne e Spine”(2010), street album published online done with collaboration of some important Italian hip hop names.

In 2011 he published the mixtape “The Flow Clocker vol.1.” with his own manager. He signed with Carosello Records, and on December 19, 2011 by digital download he published a new street album “Il Peggiore” (The Worst). At the same time Emis Killa came out with a new remix of “I Need a Dollar” by Aloe Blacc, played on many Italian radio stations.

In January 2012 he published the album “L’erba cattiva” which rose to number 5 on the FIMI chart of the most sold albums in Italy, staying in the top 20 for the 3 next months. Many hip hop Italian artists have collaborated to this album including Fabri Fibra, Gue Pequeno, Tormento and Marracash. 16 months after the release of the CD, it came back to the top ten of the most sold CDS, climbing up to number 4.

The music video for his song Parole di ghiaccio (Words of Ice), the third track from the album L'erba cattiva, had received 7.5 million views on YouTube in less than two weeks, 15 million views in less than a month, and 20 million in three months. Breaking the record for Italian music. On 5 May, Emis Killa won 'best emerging artist of 2012' at the TRL awards.[4] On 7 June 2012 he received the golden disc award for his album “L’Erba Cattiva”; whilst his singles “Parole di ghiaccio” and “Se il mondo fosse” were awarded as the platinum disc in result of 30,000 digital downloads. On 15 October he won the Best Italian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards, beating artists such as Club Dogo, Marracash, Cesare Cremonini and Giorgia. In November he published “L’ Erba Cattiva-Gold Version”, including “Il King”, soundtrack to the movie “I 2 soliti idioti”. On 12 December, during the Hip Hop Awards in the category of Best New Artist and Best Collaboration he won along with Club Dogo, J-Ax and Marracash with his song “Se il mondo fosse”.

In February 2013 he received a nomination during the Kids’ Choice Award 2013 for the category “Migliore cantante italiano” (Best Italian singer).
