Eminabad
Eminabad (Urdu, ایمن آباد) is a town in Gujranwala District, Punjab, Pakistan. Eminabad is included in Constituency NA-98 of National Assembly of Pakistan.
Geography
Eminabad is an old town, located 15 kilometre south of Gujranwala. It is linked to Grand Trunk Road and Eminabad railway station by a 4-km stretch of road. It has three historical shrines.
Independence
The predominantly Muslim population supported Muslim League and Pakistan Movement. After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, the minority Hindus and Sikhs migrated to India while many Muslims refugees from India settled down in Eminabad.[citation needed]
Culture
The population is Punjabi and speak Punjabi, Urdu and the educated also speak English. The people of Eminabad celebrate Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Eid Milad an-Nabi and Ramadan. Basant, a spring festival, is held on every year.
Sports
Another important features of Eminabadians is that they love kite flying. Pigeon flying and greyhound dog racing are the most popular games here. Cricket is most popular sports in Eminabad.[citation needed]
Education
There many schools and colleges in Eminabad. Most of the people here are well educated have migrated to large urban cities of Pakistan.
Recently a new private school has opened in Eminabad. Its name is PAK. American School of Knowledge (PASK). It is an English medium school.
Religion
Eminabad is predominantly Muslim city with a small Sikh minority.[citation needed]
Sikh Gurdwara
According to Sikhs legends, Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism had stayed in Eminabad and he was taken as a prisoner by Mughal Emperor Babur, in 1578. An historic Gurdwara Rori Sahib was built where Guru Nanak stayed and was imprisoned.[citation needed]
