Emily Horne (born 9 December 1978[1] in York, UK) is best known for being a multi-time bigamist after her well-publicised marriages to six men without legally divorcing any of them each time, and thus has been sentenced twice for bigamy, which led to calls by the authorities on just how she was able to go unnoticed for so long. She is a former glamour model, escort and porn actress. She has now changed her name by deed poll and is known as Max-Accastes Quiberberon[2]
Childhood, education and work
Horne was educated at Millthorpe High School[3] in York, and also attended All Saints School, York. During her time at school, she met the man who later was to become her first husband, Paul Rigby. Horne claims to have lost her sister when she was 18, something which is not true.[4] After finishing high school, she went on to studies in physics and electronics at Leeds Metropolitan University.[5] Horne gave up her studies, joined the university darts team and started to work as a bartender and later with striptease. Horne has been a glamour model and has also starred in X-rated adult movies.
Marriages
At the time of her sentence, Horne had married six times without dissolving her first and only legal marriage:[5]
- To Paul Rigby, 1996
- To Sean Cunningham, 1999
- To Chris Barratt, 2000
- To James Matthews, 2002
- To Ashley Baker, 2007
Since her sentence, she is married again:
- To Fred Miller, 2010[6] The marriage broke down during their honeymoon in Ireland.[4]
- To Craig Hadwin, 2011[2]
Pseudonyms
Horne has used several pseudonyms, for example Emily Lecont, Emily Carmichael, Amileannya Carmichael, Max-Accastes Quierberon, Accates Hadwin,[2] Cassy Hadwin[2] and as porn actress Anya.
Pornography and prostitution
Her story was also shown on episode "The Bigamist Bride: My Five Husbands" of Channel 4 TV documentary series Cutting Edge.[7] On it she said she had worked as an escort, they also showed clean clips from one of the low-budget hardcore porn films she acted in under the pseudonym "Anya'" called "Jim Slip's UK Street Sluts 03"[8][9] from Jim Slip Productions.
Cautions and verdicts
Horne was, in August 2004, cautioned by the police for two cases of bigamy.[10] Horne's first sentence for bigamy was given by Ipswich Crown Court in January 2004[11] when she was sentenced to six months in prison.[5] In June 2009, she was charged again, this time at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester. The court passed sentence on 27 July 2009, when she was given a ten-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, since the court had been told that Horne been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was under medication.[12] In 2011, Horne tried to obtain prescription drugs by posing as her latest husband, but was caught and brought to justice. She was due to be sentenced 20 January 2012, but the verdict was postponed pending psychiatric evaluation.[13] On 20 March 2012, Horne was handed a 12-month community order with supervision. The judge also imposed a 28-day electronically tagged curfew from 7 pm to 7 am.[14]
