Elvin Penner
Elvin Penner is an Belizean politician, elected to the House of Representatives since 2008, for the Cayo North East constituency.[1] He is a member of the United Democratic Party.[1] Penner was initially appointed as Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment in 2008. Following a cabinet reshuffling in March 2009, Penner transitioned to the Ministry of Public Utilities, Information and Broadcasting.[2] After being re-elected in 2012, Penner was appointed Minister of National Security (with special emphasis on Immigration and Border Protection).[3] On September 19, 2013, Penner was forced to resign from his ministerial position due to his involvement in issuing a fraudulent passport for Korean national Kim Won Hong.[4][5][6] Penner has three children: one daughter and two sons.
Elvin Penner, Could be the first Area Representative to be recalled in History of Belize. The Peoples United Party is hoping to get 60% of the signatures of the electorate of his constituency to trigger his recalled as stated by constitution. The Unions along the chamber of Commerce are asking fo an independent investigation. Since Minister responsible for the entire investigation is currently campaigning for Mr Penner, we wonder if a true impartial investigation can be done, when the Government priority is to maintain power.
