Ellis Hicks

Ellis Hicks or Sir Ellis Hicks[1] (c. 1315[2] – c. 1390) was an English knight. He was known for fighting in the Battle of Poitiers.[3]
Relation to Hicks-Beach and other Hickses
It is speculated that Edward Hicks-Beach and other 19th and 20th century English politicians are descendants of Sir Ellis.[4]
Through genealogical charting, many famous people such as Elias Hicks are found to be descendants of Sir Ellis.[citation needed]
Knighthood
Hicks was knighted at the Battle of Poitiers for bravery in capturing a set of colors from the French.
Family
Ellis' son was John Hicks of Tortworth, and his great grandson was Baptist Hicks, 1st Viscount Campden.
