Elisa Cariera (born Elisa Francis Cariera on June 16, 1978 in Orlando, Florida) nicknamed "Princess" is an American singer, songwriter and best known as a member of the 90's English girlband Solid HarmoniE.

Cariera joined Solid HarmoniE in 1997, and was the only American member of the group. The group started out as an opening act for the Backstreet Boys but eventually went on to do their own shows. They toured Europe and Asia - their album went gold,[1] winning thousands of fans worldwide with their music. The group eventually split in 1999.

Biography

Cariera was born and grew up in Orlando, Florida. Her parents, Tom and Deborah, own an Italian restaurant in Florida, and she has two siblings, Leslie and Tommy. Cariera was a very athletic person from her childhood, and she was the part of the cheerleading squad in her high school days. Cariera went to the Dr. Phillips High School in Florida.

Music career

Elisa joined Solid HarmoniE in 1997 when Melissa and Beki were in America with their manager and producer. The two met Cariera in her father's restaurant. Cariera was asked to sing a few lines before Beki and Melissa asked her to join the band. As they went back to UK, Mariama rejoined the group and they were a four members girlband. The group experienced its major success during the period between 1997 to 1999 before splitting up. Mariama left to join the R & B group Honeyz, and Melissa left for a solo career.

Beki and Cariera decided to stick with Solid HarmoniE, and returned to America. The two soon picked up a new Member, Jenilca Giusti after an audition and soon started recording for a new album. Their new album were more of R&B pattern rather than their previous pop/dance scheme of Solid HarmoniE from the girlband era. The new Solid harmoniE trio was on the cover of TeenFaces Magazine on its October 2000 issue. However, their new album was never released as they could not come to an agreement with their record label, or find a new one once they were without a label. Sometimes in 2003, the new version of Solid HarmoniE was also broken and Cariera decided to try out for a solo career. She's been working on her debut solo album and trying to get a record deal.

During her Solid HarmoniE days when they used to tour with Backstreet boys and NSync as their opening acts, Cariera said she used to get along with Backstreet Boy Nick Carter the most since the two were the closest in age. "They're all cool, but I get on with Nick best because we're the closest in age and I like Nintendo, too!"[14] according to Elisa in an interview during 1998. Cariera was a terrible driver as a teenager. "I'm a terrible driver. Mariama is always going on about how I nearly killed her three times!"[15] said Elisa about her driving.
