Elias David Sassoon

Elias David Sassoon (27 March 1820 – 21 March 1880) was an Iraqi-Indian philanthropist and businessman involved in trade in India and the Far East.

He was the second son of David Sassoon by his first wife Hannah Joseph. He first followed father started his business in India. After the occupiation of Hong Kong, he moved to Hong Kong in 1844 as his base to start his business in China. In 1850 he moved to Shanghai. He was father of Jacob Elias Sassoon and Edward Elias Sassoon.
