Elen Levon (born 13 July 1994)[citation needed] an Australian singer, songwriter, and dancer. She is signed to Ministry of Sound Australia and imprint label, NuFirm. Her debut single "Naughty" was released in September 2011.
Early life
Elen Levon was born on 13 July 1994 in Ukraine, and moved with her family to Sydney, Australia shortly after she was born.[1] She attended Reddam House College in Bondi, New South Wales, and left in October 2011 to begin home schooling.[1][2] At the age of three, Levon began training for music and dancing, which included her attending ballet classes.[2] She began playing the piano at the age of six.[2]
Career
Levon received her first management deal at the age of 13.[2] In 2008, Levon was selected to be in the Australian pop group Panjo 5, through the reality television series, Airtime, which was screened on Foxtel's Nickelodeon channel.[3] Together, they released two singles, "Move" and "Stay Closer".[4] The group later disbanded in November 2009.[4]
During the first half of 2011, Levon played at Australia's biggest urban music festival, Supafest, and toured with the likes of 50 Cent, G-Unit and Lil' Kim for the Winterbeatz festival.[5] In May 2011, she signed a recording contract with Ministry of Sound Australia, via producer and songwriter Israel Cruz's record label, NuFirm.[2] Her debut solo single, "Naughty", which featured a guest appearance by Cruz, was released on 30 September 2011.[6] The single peaked at number 60 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart. It was featured in Fox8's promotional advertisement for American television show, Gossip Girl.[7] At the time "Naughty" was released, Levon became an ambassador for the Underdog Bullying Campaign.[8] She was also featured in Australian ad campaigns for the Blackberry Playbook.[9]
In January 2012, Levon was featured on Israel Cruz's single, "Save My Life", having previously been featured on the remix of his single, "Party Up".[10][11] On 20 January 2012, she represented Australia at the annual Beijing Gala World Music Festival, where she performed her song, "Sun Burns Out", which she co-wrote with Irish recording artist, Brian McFadden.[12] The event was broadcast to an estimated one billion people on China's largest television network, Beijing TV.[12] Levon's second single, "Like a Girl In Love", was released on 2 March 2012.[13] Levon has so far embarked on the national 'Naughty Nights' tour of Australia's pubs and clubs with pop singer Marvin Priest. She also performed "Like a Girl In Love" at the NRL match between the Newcastle Knights and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium.[14] Her debut album is expected to be released sometime in 2012. Levon has been working on the album with McFadden, Robert Conley, Luciana, James and Melinda Ash.[5]
She made her acting debut in the Australian teen drama series, Slide, as a young muslim girl.[15]
Influences
Levon cites Madonna and Michael Jackson as her musical influences, stating "I used to watch Madonna and Michael Jackson on TV and say to myself, 'I want to do that one day'".[5] Beyoncé has also been named another one of her influences.[16]
