Elaine Smith (born 23 April 1962) is a Scottish-born actress who found fame on Australian television.

Career

Smith is best known for her role as Daphne Clarke in the soap opera Neighbours. She auditioned for a guest role in the show in 1984.[1] However, her appearance, particularly her short hair, caught the attention of the casting director and she was cast as Daphne Lawrence, one of the show's original cast members.[1] Smith continued in the role until 1988.[2]

Subsequent credits include: The Flying Doctors, Sons and Daughters, State Coroner, Always Greener, Home and Away and All Saints in 2006.[2]

Personal life

Smith is married to actor and writer, Jonathan Biggins. The couple met while performing in a Melbourne play together.[3] Smith and Biggins have twin daughters, Charlotte Elisabeth and Imogen Rebecca born in February 2000.[3]
