Eigerøya

Eigerøy Bridge connects Eigerøya to the mainland

Eigerøya is an island in Eigersund, Norway. The island covers an area of 19,9 km². Highest point is 131m a.s.l. Eigerøya is separated from the mainland by a narrow strait with length about 13 km. A bridge over the strait connects Eigerøya to the mainland. The island has fish processing industry and other industries. Two lighthouses are located at the island, Eigerøy Lighthouse and Vibberodden Lighthouse.[1]

A naval battle was fought off the island by British and Dutch frigate squadrons at the Action of 22 August 1795.
