Coaching career
He started his Coaching career at VVV-Venlo where he worked on all the possible levels within this club. He Started with being a youth Coach and worked further more as an Assistant Coach, Head Youth Department and Head Coach. He was the youngest Head Coach ever in this club. At the age of 28 he was awarded with the UEFA PRO Licence. He worked at VVV-Venlo for 11 years.
In 2002 he started a new adventure in the Middle-East and followed his former friend and Colleague Jan Versleijen to the United Arab Emirates and joined a cooperation at Al Jazira Club in Abu Dhabi. They stayed together for 3 more years and worked in Saudi Arabia at Al Ettifaq and in the UAE at Al-Shaab CSC. This collaboration ended and Eelco started as a Head Coach at Al Riffa SC in Bahrain. Further more he worked the following years at, namely: Muscat FC Oman, Fanja Club Oman and Al-Khaleej Club Saudi Arabia. He lastly worked for Red Bull Ghana in Ghana where he was Head Coach of the academy first team.[1]
On 8 November 2012 it was officially confirmed that Chattorie would take over as the head coach of Prayag United S.C. of the I-League in India.[2] In the first match under his coaching, Prayag United notched up a 10-1 win against United Sikkim F.C. in an I-League encounter.[3] Later into the season, his team reached its peak and managed an impressive fourth-place finish in the league, which is also the best in the club's history.
The highest point of the season however, came in the IFA Shield, when a solitary Ranti Martins goal helped Schattorie's men to win their only trophy of the season, as they went past an in-form East Bengal side. This was Eelco's first silverware in India and the club's first major trophy after winning the Durand Cup back in 2010.
Eelco continued to be at charge of the United Sports Club in the 2013-14 season also. Under his tutelage, United won the first match of the I-League season against Rangdajied United F.C..[4] Though his team is also playing in the Calcutta Premier Division, Schattorie has openly slammed the objective of the league and has remarked that he would only use it as a platform to give reserve players due match practice.
