Edward Carrick
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Edward Carrick (born Edward Craig) (1905-1998) was an art designer, film director, author and illustrator.[1]
The grandson of actress Ellen Terry, Carrick's father was Edward Gordon Craig, the theatre practitioner and stage designer.[1] Craig changed his last name to Carrick to disassociate himself from his father. Carrick's disassociation with his father arose from an acrimonious disagreement over his engagement to a young woman, Helen Godfrey, in 1928.[1]
Carrick was the art director of the Crown Film Unit, part of the British Government's Ministry of Information.[1] Carrick's grandfather was the model and painter Gaetano Meo, of whom he was writing a biography at the time of his death.[1]
