Education Update is an American non-profit monthly newspaper, published in New York City, New York.

It focuses on issues related to education and has a circulation of approximately 200,000.

History

The publisher, retired education professor Pola Rosen, began the newspaper at age 54, delivering the paper door to door on the Upper East Side of New York City's Manhattan borough.[1] The newspaper also hosts an annual essay-writing competition for New York City school students and sponsors conferences on education policy.[2]

The publication was honored with the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce's Best New Business of the Year Award in 1997.

Monthly columnists include New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, School Chancellor Joel Klein, NYS Education Committee Chair Assemblyman Steve Sanders, former New York State First Lady Matilda Cuomo, and United Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten. Individuals who have conducted exclusive interviews with the paper on education issues include: Tony Blair, Maya Angelou, Nelson Mandela, Senator Edward Kennedy, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton.
