Ediz Bahtiyaroğlu (Bosnian: Edis Bahtijarević) (2 January 1986 – 5 September 2012)[1] was a Turkish football player, who also had Bosnian citizenship. He was born in Novi Pazar, Yugoslavia.

He last played central defender for Eskişehirspor in the Süper Lig.[2]

International career

After being capped 11 times for Turkey's U-21 side, in January 2010 it was confirmed by Bosnia and Herzegovina's national team manager, Safet Sušić, that he had contacted Bahtiyaroğlu regarding the possibility to play for Bosnia-Herzegovina. It was reported in the Bosnian media that Ediz needed some time to think about it and would respond in a matter of days.[3]

On 5 February 2010, Bahtiyaroğlu confirmed that he would play for Bosnia national football team.[4][5][6]

Death

On 5 September 2012, Bahtiyaroğlu died in Eskişehir from a heart attack.[7] He was aged 26.
