Edan Donald Everly (born 1968) is a guitarist, musician, singer, songwriter, music producer, and relative to The Everly Brothers.
Early life
Born on August 25, 1968, Edan is the son of Don Everly and nephew to Phil Everly of The Everly Brothers.[1] His mother is actress Venetia Stevenson. Edan's siblings are sisters Erin Everly and Stacy Everly. His grandfather was the director Robert Stevenson and soap opera actress Anna Lee was his grandmother.
Career
Early in 1992, Edan Everly signed to Hollywood Records. His band was appropriately named “Edan”. With Julian Raymond on board as producer, the band quickly started recording tracks for their debut release, “Dead Flowers”. It featured players like Al Kooper on Hammed B-3, Tom Petersson (Cheap Trick) on bass and Luis Conte on percussion on songs like “Shot of Your Love”. The Everly Brothers appeared with Edan on “I Want To Be Myself”. Frankie Avalon was featured on trumpet on the song "Sometimes".
By summer of 1992, the band’s video was shot and the debut CD Dead Flowers was released. The band took their organic brand of rock out on the road. At the same time, change in popular music genre and management started to create tension in the band and Everly was very reluctant to go along with the namesake press releases from the label. The band never found an audience, and as a result the band was bought out of their contract.
Edan can be heard playing guitar on The Freddie Mercury Remixes CD on the song "The Great Pretender", remixed by Brian Malouf with additional production from Julian Raymond. Everly was not credited for his work. Release date: 1993, November 26.
In the mid and late 1990s, Edan Everly performed shows in and around the Los Angeles area playing guitar and singing harmony with different artists including legendary guitar player, Albert Lee, and Rick "The Bass Player" Rosas, best known for his work with Neil Young. Another noted musician that Edan has worked with is Bill Spooner (The Tubes). In March 1989 Edan and Bill did a 1950’s music tribute at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. In a newspaper (San Francisco Chronicle) article Bill said, “I’m taking Edan under my wing.” Edan laid down mandolin tracks for rockabilly guitar God, Duane Eddy.
Currently
In September 2006, Edan self-released his first solo album, For The Insanity Of It All. In November 2011 Edan released the album Songs from Bikini Atoll. Both albums feature The Everly Brothers - Phil Everly and Don Everly on such songs as "I'm Free", "I Took It Up", and "We Had It Made", in three-part harmony.
Edan Everly is currently (2006–2014) touring as a guitarist with Frankie Avalon, Fabian and Bobby Rydell. He sings duets with Frankie Avalon and is his lead guitar player.
When not touring, Edan is producing and writing music, playing guitar for various artists, and teaching music. He owns and runs "Starwood Studios" in Atlanta, Georgia.
Additionally, Edan is a member of the Screen Actors' Guild.
