Echinodorus virgatus also known as Alisma virgata is a plant species belonging to family alismatacae. It falls under the taxonomy Section of Cordifolii and Subgenus Echinodorus.

Description

The Leaves are 45 cm long. The petioles are longer than the cordate blade and has a lobate base, 17 cm long x 14 cm wide, trimmed with long pellucid lines.

The stem is erect and distinctly alate(with wing like extensions), cylindrical in shape and between the whorls triangular.

Infloresence paniculate has 9 whorls, branching in the lower whorl. Bracts are shorter than the pedicels which are about 1 cm long. Achenes with the beak 2.25 mm long x 1.2 mm wide, having 4 - 5 lateral ribs and 3 - (4) distinct, big lateral glands. Beak 0.5 - 0.7 mm long, erect.

Presence

It is found in Pacific coast of Central America, Mexico and is a little-known species.
