Ebola River

The Ebola River in northern Democratic Republic of the Congo is the headstream of the Mongala River, a tributary of the Congo River.

Ebola virus (EBOV) and the taxonomic ranks associated with it and its relatives (genus Ebolavirus, and species Bundibugyo ebolavirus, Reston ebolavirus, Sudan ebolavirus, Taï Forest ebolavirus, and Zaire ebolavirus) are named after this river.
