Eastgate Hotel

The Eastgate Hotel (aka The Eastgate locally) was originally a 17th-century coaching inn on the south side of the High Street in central Oxford, England. The hotel is located on the corner with Merton Street, where the old east gate of the city was positioned when Oxford had city walls. On the opposite side of Merton Street, also on the High Street, are the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art and the Examination Schools of Oxford University. The architect of the hotel was E. P. Warren in 1899–1900, and the stuccoed style of the building echoes other 18th century buildings in Oxford.

The hotel has recently become officially the Mercure Eastgate Hotel after a change of ownership.[1] Its address is 73 High Street.
