Eastern Armenia

Eastern Armenia (Armenian: Արևելյան Հայաստան) is a term used to refer to the eastern parts of the Armenian Highlands, the homeland of the Armenian people. It was part of Persia until 1828 and was ceded to the Russian Empire following the Russo-Persian War (1826–28). The history of the region under Russian control is covered in Russian Armenia.
