Eishockeyclub Red Bull München (or EHC Red Bull München; English: Munich Ice Hockey Club) is a professional ice hockey team based in Munich, Germany that currently plays in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.
History
After the establishment of the club Eishockeyclub HC München 1998 on January 19, 1998, HC Munich began play in the Bezirksliga, where they won the district championship.
The club quickly moved up the ranks in German hockey in their first decade, winning league titles in both the Bayernliga. At the Year 2003 the Club changed the name to Eishockeyclub München. After the Promotion 2003 from the Bavarianleague to the Upperleague, the senior team was outsourced from the Club 2004 into the EHC München Spielbetriebs GmbH. The Team promotes into the 2.Bundesliga, where it won the championship 2010.
By July 2010, EHC München had earned promotion into Germany's top league, the DEL.[1] Furthermore, the club managed to reach the playoffs even in the first season in the DEL. After financial problems the team gets 2012 a new sponsor and was renamed to EHC Red Bull München. From the 1. May 2013 the Company and the team is owned by the Red Bull Company and the Company was renamed into EHC Red Bull München GmbH
